CALLUNA THEME and WP EASY HOTELIER V1.8

  • I have found out through much trial and error that the Calluna WordPress theme appears not to work with version 1.8 of your plugin. However it works perfectly with version 1.5

    This is probably the reason that the Calluna theme does not permit an update to your plugin.

    I did however mange to update the plugin manually but several pages in the theme stopped working.In particular pages that contain the Calluna Room Carousel and the Calluna Room Grid.

    I did approach a WordPress expert for some assistance, but the price to fix was very high. His comments, whether valid or not, I dont know, were as follows:

    Well I can see there are lots of conflicts in the latest version. they could be solved but it won’t be a quick fix, if you contact the plugin developer then they could fix it for you , but even they would know its not a quick solution thats why they have not done it already. If I fix this for you it would cost $ 380 and take 4-6 days. But in this case you won’t be able to upgrade the plugin , since that would remove my customization.

    I suspect its probably an issue with the theme and not the plugin, but i wouldn’t know.

    I was quite happy with v 1.5 as it worked. My only issue was that it did not offer functionality to add sales tax. Yes I can add the tax via Paypal, but obviously the invoice totals do not match.

    My other disappointment is that I understand that at some time you may include seasonal daily rates and obviously i will not have access to that update either.

    I also want to purchase the weekly booking plugin, I am hoping that this will be compatible with version 1.5 as obviously I am now stuck with this legacy plugin.

    Now i understand why the developers at Calluna never actually mention what version of your plugin they are using. I am guessing they do not wish to make this info easily available because they are aware of this issue.

    Where can i get V1.5 please
    Also if we download and install V1.5, can we install addons (i want to buy the full bundle for V1.5) to put on Callunna Theme

    These are things you should ask to the author of the Calluna theme directly. I don’t know why it doesn’t work with the latest version of Easy WP Hotelier but I can assure you that there’s not much difference between the version 1.5.0 and the version 1.7.0. I always introduce changes that are backward compatible.

    Unfortunately if you want to use the last version of Easy WP Hotelier with a theme that doesn’t support it, the theme’s author need to release an update first. There’s nothing I can do in my end. And I’m not accusing anyone. It’s just the reality.

    The default WP theme (Twenty Seventeen) works with every version of Easy WP Hotelier.

    @vbrigand: of course, you need the last version of Easy WP Hotelier to install some addons. That’s because there are some hooks and functions that were introduced after the version 1.5.0 and some extensions require them.

    Stuck with the version 1.5.0 is not a solution. The only solution is contact the authors and ask them to release an update.

    yes this is pretty much the same conclusion I reached. It is the theme developer that has the responsibility, not the other way round.

    But in any case it is good that an awareness has been raised that the Calluna theme is not as compatible as the developer would like you to think and potential purchasers of that theme should do so with caution.

    i can update the Latest WP Easy Hotelier from Calluna Theme there’s a custom code to enter in the WP Easy Hotelier to work the plugin properly
