    Hi there –

    I have a client who is using bbPress for their members to share best practices etc. The bbPress page is locked so you have to be logged in to view it, however, the attachments are not. Anyone with the URL for an attachment to a message in bbPress can access it.

    Would Prevent Direct Access be able to protect just those uploads on that page from being accessed from non-logged in users? The rest of the site has uploads that can be accessed by non-logged in users so we really only want to protect the bbPress page.

    Yes, absolutely. You can selectively protect those file uploads on that page (or any other pages) from being accessed by non-logged-in users.

    Fantastic! So would anything that is uploaded by a member to that page automatically be protected as long as the page is protected? The admin doesn’t have to go in and protect every file individually, correct?

    As of now, I’m afraid you have to go in and protect those files manually. You can protect multiple files at once though.

    In case there will be a lot of new upcoming file uploads to that private page or you have a lot of pages like that, we can surely build an extension that integrates PDA Gold with bbPress and automates the entire process for you.

    Ah okay. So for any new post in bbPress that has an attachment, the admin would have to manually protect it once the comment has been approved. I can let the client know that.

    What would the cost of building something like an extension for bbPress be? Or is that something you would do anyway to extend the functionality of the plugin?
