Almost immediately after installing CCF plugin I got this notice:

Connection lost. Saving has been disabled until you’re reconnected. We’re backing up this post in your browser, just in case.

I tested on two different websites: one on siteground, one on wpengine. Same thing.

However, at least on wpengine site, this error doesn’t seem to be valid. What I mean is I still can publish and update pages and posts.

Still, it’s annoying. What could be the issue?

    Hey @whitex3

    Question for you.

Is this with a fresh copy of the plugin for you as a whole? Meaning did you just install the plugin today for the first time? Or did you upgrade the initial site from 1.3.7 and the issue is suddenly showing up?

Trying to narrow down if it’s going to be an issue stemming from the 1.4.0 update we sent out late yesterday, or if it’s possibly just something else.

Hey, crazy thing, but on wpengine site it’s not showing up anymore. I’ll have to test on siteground.
To answer your questions, yes absolutely fresh install on both.

Thanks for a prompt reply, btw. ??

Noted. We’ll keep our eyes open for possible new reports as well. Hopefully it’s not a larger issue at hand.

For what it’s worth, I checked WordPress core code and it’s coming from at least momentary issues with connecting to the server, and WordPress trying to save and make sure you don’t lose any content as much as possible.

I see. Thanks for checking into that.

    Hello –

I had just installed the plugin (brand new install) and I am having the same issue:

    https://screencast.com/t/nefnNgKJ

Website and everything else loads fine, it’s only showing this on the “Add New Form” page.

Multiple reports means we’ll start digging in to see if there’s some change made that’s caused it.

    Thanks everyone.

    Hello –

I downloaded version 1.3.7 and installed that instead and the “Connection” notification does not show, so there seems to be an issue with version 1.4

Additionally, I did see this notification pop up while the page was trying to load with version 1.4

Failed to load plugin url: https://website.com/wp-content/plugins/revslider/admin/assets/js/tinymce-shortcode-script.js

And even with v1.3.7 – the “Add New Form” page takes a long time to load, but it looks like something with the TinyMCE plugin is “hanging” during page load:

    https://website.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/langs/wp-langs-en.js?ver=4800-20180716

In the Network tab of Developer tools, this script is taking 15642ms to load, and is throwing a 522 status.

    Hopefully that helps.

Yep, I spoke too soon. The same notice again.

We dug into this earlier, and we have found that it’s much less of an issue than first thought.

We have some CSS that was originally being added just to a certain page within our plugin. However, with 1.4.0 we reworked the CSS into fewer overall files. This caused this CSS to be loaded in more places, including the post editor screen. The problem is that we had a very generic “error” class, which is also used for the “connection lost” admin notice that was showing.

So…we were unintentionally showing the “connection lost” notification. There wasn’t any actual errors occurring, it was just getting showed as if there was.

We will get this addressed in a 1.4.1 release soon. We have some other items we want to get addressed as well anyway.

The latest update also “broke” the notification email you get when someone signs up on your list. The email use to have the information (name, email address) of the person sighing up. Now that is just blank in the FORM INFORMATION area.:

@mfabes Noted and we’ll investigate that as well. Thanks for letting us know.

    Hello –

Disregard the issues I had mentioned above, turns out upon investigating the issue with CC plugin, I found these other issues were related to a botched migration to where I had to reupload WordPress. I hadn’t updated to v1.4 yet as I will wait until v1.4.1 comes out even though it is just a CSS issue.

    Thanks

I updated to CCF version 1.4.0 and immediately started experiencing the Lost connection message. I have deactivated the plugin for now so I can edit my custom post types.
Hope that information helps with the debugging.

Leaving the plugin active is not going to have any effect on things, and all of the functionality should still work, in regards to the message at the top of the editor screen. Think of it as if we pulled off an invisibility cloak for hidden ui for potential use later by other parts of WordPress ??

I’m having the same issue with the lost connection error message occurring at the top of the add new post page and it seems like a few other pages as well. The problem goes away when I uninstall the plugin. I was disturbed about this as I just started a trial of Constant Contact and this was going to be something I addressed them on Monday as well as with my sales coach consultant.

Since the Constant Contact team says it is not a problem, I will re-install the plugin. I have been able to add articles or posts without any problem with the error message showing, so it did not seem to be effecting that. I did notice that there was an update the other day after I installed the plugin and it seem to have also happened about that time as well. I have also experienced the missing info on the new contact subscribe email as well.

I hope this will be fixed soon. Thank you for looking into it.
