How to fix slow loading directory
-
I’ve been working with support (I’m a paid member) because my directory was taking up to 15 seconds to load. They said it’s because of large cover photos and profile photos. So first I disabled cover photos in the ultimate member directory, that sped things up. But big profile photos were still showing up.
They said make sure in wp-admin that ultimate Member -> settings -> profile photo size is still at the default 190px. BUT if profile thumbnails aren’t being created for that 190px, then ultimate member will just display the full size uploaded images. To fix that, you must go into the file manager of your host (e.g. Cpanel or using FTP) and make sure USERS or GROUPS have write and execute permissions on
“wp-content/uploads” and “wp-content/uploads/ultimatemember” directories. This will only fix future profile photo uploads, You’ll have to check your current profile photos and replace any that are bigger than like 60k, then your member directory should load quickly.

Now I’m trying to work with support how to get profile pages to compress cover images. I had a member that uploaded a 15mb cover photo so her page takes forever to load. The only fix I have is to manually download her cover photo, save for web in photoshop, and re-upload it.——————
Also, if support is reading this, why did the “message” button disappear in my directory? it still shows in the profile page but not in the directory anymore. The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
