What is the recommended method to add/change the font style to compliment the features of this plugin and theme?

Ideally I’d like to use an OTF (open type) font, but may be able to settle for something from Google Fonts as well.

The intent is to have the ability to use a custom font that can still benefit from the font functionality of this plugin.

Unless someone has a better suggestion, I’m going to work on a ‘child’ theme, and use @Font-Face and CSS3.

    Hello,

Because using different fonts is not a modification that’s specific to the Twenty Seventeen theme, we do not add options to change fonts.

There are plenty of plugins out there to modify fonts, for example, we use TK Google Fonts.

If you want to make your font changes with CSS, you don’t need to create a child theme, just add the CSS changes into “Additional CSS” area in the customiser.

Thank you Oliver for the response.

Do you know if changes into “Additional CSS” remain with theme upgrades?

    Hi,

If you mean updating the current theme to a newer version of the same theme then yes, Additional CSS is kept.

When changing themes to a new theme, however, CSS is not retained. Mainly because difference themes have completely different frameworks and so the CSS from one theme would almost certainly be incompatible with a new theme.

    Hope that helps.

    Oliver
