ACF Add-On: Flexible Content Fields Help

I’m looking to import data into an ACF Flexible Content Field. While it does appear this field type is supported, it seems that each layout needs to be specified in finite quantity and order – which sort of negates the purpose of this field type.

The data I would bring in will contain multiple layouts in unknown quantity and order (in fact some posts will contain more than one instance of a single layout).

Anyway, was curious if anyone had run into similar limitations and had any advice on potential work arounds.
