Publish -> updating…
-
When viewing the list of Posts from the WP backend, and using QuickEdit to change the post status, the notification is triggered in this case via “Publish”. It seems to take an inordinately long period of time to return (to “Published”) as the “Update” button displays the slowly turning cursor, seemingly without end.
I *think* this is because the plugin is sending emails, and hasn’t finished yet (we have approx. 500 user emails to process). That the process is staggered to not overload the mail system, or trigger spam protection, I fully understand, but the rotating “Update” button does rather give the impression of being *stuck* in a loop.
Firstly, is this expected behaviour…? Secondly, and more importantly, is the question whether the email sending process will be *stopped/broken* if one closes the “Updating…” window/page, or whether it continues to run in the background?
Currently the interface leaves one uncertain as to what is actually going on.
