• Hi everybody. Here’s the site I run: Some Blind Alleys.

I want to know if there’s any way to run the Sideblog plugin together with the Sidepost plugin… without Sidepost making all the posts in Sideblog appear in the main column on the home page.

I want to have, essentially, three feeds running on the main page: the main blog, and two sideblogs in the two sidebars. I’m using K2.

I activated the Sideblog plugin to run a feed I call “Plugs”. Everything was running fine. Now I want to add another feed that will appear in a sidebar. So I activated Sidepost. The only problem is that when I add content to Sidepost, the Sideblog content appears in the main column on the home page.

    Thanks for your help.

  • I tagged this as sideposts as it is the correct name of the plugin ?? As I think you mean SidePosts.

I wold ask you about the WordPress version you’re using. As looking at both plugins page:

    – SidePosts requires WP 2.7 or higer.
    – SideBlog is only tested to WP 2.5

But, essentially, both plugins are designed to do the similar work. Both add some filters to the Posts query to filter what has to be shown in each area. I think this can cause some incompatibilities between the two plugins.

My recommendation: Chose just one of the plugins and manage all asides with it.

Forget to say. Be careful if using the K2 theme. If you use the K2 custom sidebar, it’s known that some sidebar functions are missing on it. This causes widgets designed for the WordPress sidebar not to work as expected with the K2 custom sidebar.

Is there any way… to use sidepost and show the posts in home page as well??? I am not sure if this is right place to ask… I will search – and post as a main thread – if required

No, there is no way to show in home. One of the plugin purposes is just to hide aside posts from home.

Yes, this is the right place to ask, but better if you start a new topic when asking new questions ??
