• I transfered my domain name from one server to another and installed wordpress on the new server with the same information as my old one. I then thought that I could just upload the content from the old blog to the newly created folder and it would just overwrite what it needed to. No I come to find out that you cannot do that and the best way to transfer is to export the old posts and comments – great, I can’t log into the old one, each time I try, it logs me into the new one because it follows the domain name, not the name servers!! HELP – how can I ge the old blog onto the new server without being able to export? I have the whole blog folder on my desktop, I was smart enough to download it.

  • can you go to the old database server still in your host’s phpmyadmin? if so, export the databse then import it into the new databse.
All of the info is stored their – not in any files

I wish that I could, but I used the same username and login. Plus, the phpadmin keeps sending me to the new website since all I did was transfer the domain name from one site to the other. It won’t point back to my olf site.

Well, I had to close the account and I couldn’t ever get into my old wordpress dashboard. But I do have the full download of my blog folder. IS there anyway I can get anything from that, or am I screwed?

If you have the old database saved you can just import them to your new database using phpmyadim on your new server.
