I am just starting to learn how to “style” tablepress tables using CSS
(WHAT A PAIN).

1) Is there a way to set global vars so I don’t need to reset the var every time?
2) Is there a way to set background color for an entire COLUMN or ROW?

I can understand that this is a bit frustrating at the beginning, but trust me that it’s worth it, as you gain a lot of flexibility!

1) I’m not sure what you mean here. What exactly are you resetting?

2) Yes! For a row, try something like

.tablepress-id-123 .row-4 td {
  background-color: #ff0000;
}

and for a column, try

.tablepress-id-123 .column-3 {
  background-color: #ff0000;
}
