• Hi there,

The Customize page for my website isn’t loading. I’ve disabled all my plugins but it still doesn’t work.

I ran the Javascript console and this is what comes up, but I don’t really understand what it all means:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'replace' of undefined
        at Function.m.template (load-scripts.php:58)
        at n.template (load-scripts.php:61)
        at n.render (load-scripts.php:722)
        at n.initialize (load-scripts.php:718)
        at n.e.View (load-scripts.php:84)
        at n.constructor (load-scripts.php:86)
        at new n (load-scripts.php:84)
        at f.ready (load-scripts.php:31)
        at Object.<anonymous> (load-scripts.php:31)
        at i (load-scripts.php:2)

    Could someone help me please?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Do you mean Custom page? Is it a homepage for your site?

    (@andreacaldwell)

i’m trying to customize my theme. When I click on Appearance > Customize, it gets stuck on the Customize: Loading… page.

Same problem with you, I got a message when I tried to customize my theme “You need a higher level of permission” But I’m using admin account. I don’t know why.

I have the same exact problem.

I noticed it after de-activating and deleting/re-installing Woocommerce. I’m not sure if that was the problem that initiated this error, but after deleting Woocommerce a second time, it still doesn’t work.

    Will be following this post.

It might have something to do with the new Gutenberg Editor?? Right after seeing the news of the new editor, my theme/customization stopped working.

Ah, okay. Have you tried switching temporarily to a different theme to see if it’s a theme related issue? Also you could try turning off your plugins.

Yes, I tried to switching few themes including default. Turn off all plugins and still got that message. My other websites still working perfect same hosting using same wordpress version, plugins.

@andreacaldwell, from your console results, there seems to be a problem with your load-scripts.php

A quick Google search for “wordpress load-scripts.php” throws several results. Here’s one but you should check the others: Dealing with load-scripts.php console errors in WordPress

@npdais2, are you the creator of the site or just the Admin? There’s a higher level of administration called “Super Admin”. At least in Multisite installations.
