I decided to check the validity of my meta tags and in the analysis it informed me I have more than 100 URLs on most of my pages.

I am assuming these are navigation links.
(I might link out to 3 or 4 helpful sites and I also have images from my Media Library and some links to banner advertising but nothing approaching 100 outbound links)

My navigation is a mess but I only show the categories, not all the posts (but each category has a post count, so maybe that is it)

Anyway, how do I fix something like that? Unless I delete a bunch of posts.
Wouldn’t the solution require me to change site architecture?

    Right now it is:
    Index > All Posts
    would going to
    Index > Category > Posts
    fix it.
Or is there a better way. I certainly hope so.

    Thanks for considering this question

I used my browser’s View Info on your home page, and copied the links, then pasted into an editor. There are 91 on your home page. Most are internal (menu, sidebar, on the page), but some are to www.ads-software.com, social media, theme site, clickbank, linksynergy.

I would say that Yes, you have too many links (at least on the home page). It improves SEO to focus, and that is not focused. I would declutter and simplify.

How do i simplify? is changing the directory structure the only way?

Go to Appearance > Menus and build a new menu that is shorter and more helpful. You can use your keywords on your menu, but don’t duplicate anything. Keep it short and if you need to, you could create a new page that just has an overview of the categories, with some description. Then you can swap out the old menu for the new one.
If you feel you need to, you could have a related posts plugin that shows on the single posts only. Usually you can relate posts by category or tag.
Think in terms of how a visitor could find the information they need without being overwhelmed.

THank you @joyously I will try it when I get home.
A new menu will be much easier than what I expected I would need to do.

I don’t like Main, Top, or Footer navigation. I like having categories in the sidebar.
The problem is that there are over 100 outgoing links if I do it that way.

Is there a way to make the “Category” widget that goes in the sidebar only link to categories and not the posts in those categories too. THat would reduce the outgoing link count

Is there a way to create a menu out of only categories and then use Custom HTML in a sidebar widget that would only link to categories. I have already done that but I don’t like the Main, Top, or Footer locations.

I also ran a check when using a Menu with just categories, the 2 pages I checked all came back with under 100 URLs. So it looks like that is good.

Any ideas on how to get my newly created, category only, menu into the sidebar where I want it.
    ……………
I also have an off-topic (sort of) question. Nowadays it seem everyone has a browser plugin so they can post to multiple social channels at once, do you think having bookmarking icons on my site is important. They are also java script or something and I get dinged for them when doing page load speed tests.
I am thinking I should get rid of them, unless you have a different opinion.

Look under Widgets for the Menu widget. It lets you choose which menu to show, as a widget.

Thank you. I would not have gotten it done without your help.
