    Hi there,

I have picked up the maintenance on a clients site and they seem to be using this plugin, unfortunately they’re having a few issues a bugs and after inspecting it myself I can’t see anything obvious amiss. The client has detailed their problems out below:

    1. DatePicker via calendar functionality not working

The issue was brought to our attention when a user tried to use the calendar on the What’s On page of the site. He clicked the date of his event and his event was not pulled through and a blank page was shown. However this event has its own page on the website, which listed on the what’s on page (separately to the calendar).
Our query is around why the calendar search isn’t pulling through events and we wonder if we’re missing something when setting up the events pages/ if there’s a problem with DatePicker.

If you use the calendar on this page: https://www.heartofglass.org.uk/whats-on/
and click and date that has an event on it, you’ll find the archive page you’re re-directed to isn’t showing any of the events on this date at all.

    2. All events shown as free

Every ‘Event’ page lists the event as free as default. We can’t find a way to change this without selling tickets through the website, which we don’t want to do at the moment.
For example, the cost of the event below is from £3-6 but we don’t know how to enter this.

    3. Event pages disappearing from ‘What’s On’ parent page once start date has passed

Event pages seem to ‘disappear’ from the ‘What’s On’ parent page once the start date has passed. They remain live and searchable but are not featured on this listings page, we’d like them to remain listed on this parent page if possible.
For example, this event is still running but the start date has now passed and so it no longer appears on the What’s On page:

  • Hi Neal,
    EM Usere here ??

    1) The date picker does not appear to be native EM. Indeed, if I pick Dec. 13th (listed with an event on the main page), I get no event info. Could you please try using the EM calendar (for testing purposes). Then we can rule out/in where the problem may lie. What I noticed is that the resulting date-picker-url does not appear one that EM uses… You could however check the settings in Events -> Settings -> Formatting -> Calendar -> Link directly to event on day with single event? But again, that only works if the date picker actually hooks into EM…

    2)
Selling online tickets is a Pro feature. The free version does not support any online payment gateways. So listing the event for free, is a user setting in this case. In the event edit page you set the ticket price. No transaction is connected to that, so all bookings will remain “pending” until someone approves them. The way the tickets are actually paid is (with the free version) completely separate from EM.
So saying that you can only list events for free is incorrect – check you event edit page for the manually set ticket price. ??
I will bet, it is now set there to “free”. As long as you do not include #_BOOKINGFORM or #_BOOKINGBUTTON in your event page, the visitor will not be able to book through your site. Hence, you can keep linking to eventbrite, like currently. ??

    3)
In the EM settings you can set “current events as past”. That means that if an event is still in progress, but started yesterday, EM will treat that as past (since most of the time people cannot join in-process events). To change that, go to: Events -> Settings -> Pages -> Event Lists/Archives -> Are current events past events? -> No.

Additionally, by default EM displays Upcoming events (scope = future), if you do want to list (in my humble opinion) outdated info, you can change the scope of the events lists in Events -> Settings -> Pages -> Event Lists/Archives -> Event list scope.

    Hope it helps! ??
