Too many hacks needed and it borked the database
-
OK. This plugin seemed like a lifesaver. Out of the box, one-click install and one-click export/import? I was moving from development on one hosting (Hostpapa) to live-site (LCN) and this sounded good to me
Until the dreaded “export failed” popup. It took four attempts for the export to work. Wary of this from the off, I made a fresh install on another sub on Hostpapa and it just didn’t ever work. No amount of hacking .htacess or wp-config would let the upload via media files work. That annoyingly generic http error, every time. So instead I moved onto my offline enviroment (LocalFlywheel) and it failed a few times before finally, I got it working.
Eventually happy with the result, I went to migrate to the live site (hosted on LCN) and so far so good, the media Gallery upload is working fine. And then the dreaded popup. “Import Failed”. Which in turn led to my database being left completely and entirely borked beyond repair. To the point of a clean install of WP.
You shouldn’t have to hack .htaccess or wp-config for a plugin to work properly and you don’t expect to have to manually reinstall WordPress after it breaking everything.
This plugin does not work on all hosts. Their support tried and clearly wanted to help but I simply can’t recommend this plugin.
