Copied website cause CPU spike ?

    Hi,
    I’ve been having problems with few website that are causing CPU spike when accessing any pages. I did some tests including disabling ALL plugins & revering back to default theme but without any success. The only thing common between these websites is me using Duplicator.
    I’ve also tested the same websites with fresh databases without any problems.

    Could duplicator plugin causing some database errors that are leading to WP errors & CPU spike ?

    I’m happy to work with you on solving this issue as I have at least 2 websites to fix. (I can maybe provide some data and do different tests ?)

    Hey @michaelhabib16,

    When you run a backup or the installer you will definitely see a spike, there is no way around that. But if you’re seeing a spike in CPU by just by going to the homepage or just the admin dashboard then you might want to narrow it down by removing plugins/themes. For example, remove Duplicator and then browse to the homepage if you still see a spike then another theme or plugin is probably causing it.

    If the spike to the homepage goes away from simply removing the Duplicator then that is something I haven’t seen before and can work closely with you on the issue if that is the case.

    Thanks for your reply.
    I’ve noted the steps I took to try solve the problem on one of my websites (with no success) , I’ll try again on my 2nd website then post my findings.

    One important thing I noticed is: I still had CPU spike on page access (any page) with all plugins disabled (deactivated then renamed the plugins folder to make sure no plugin code is being run), and reverting to default theme.
    The only way I could remove the CPU spike is by connecting to a fresh database which is leading me to believe the database transfer didn’t go as expected.

    I’l do my 2nd test and get back to you.
