Really easy to set things up, and the dashboard for posts and pages is as near to Yoast as you’ll get anywhere.

A couple of query’s though, and a possible error that could make the whole plugin unusable until it’s fixed.

    First, the query’s:

In the post/page admin, I’m asked for ‘a number’ in the title. This is plain daft, and should be removed.

In the readability for the same – I’m told to add a ‘table of contents’, which again is just plain daft.

Similarly, I’m told to add 600 – 2500 words in each post or page. I can understand a recommendation of 300 words as in Yoast, but all posts being a minimum of 600 words is pushing it a bit.

Finally, there ought to be an option to REMOVE the content readability section completely, otherwise you end up writing disjointed waffle in sentences of no more than 20 words.

And so to the error – however I’ve been told of a solution that appears to work – my sitemaps were all resulting in 404 errors. Using the solution I just found, I refreshed the permalinks and all seems to be fine now. However there should be a note to this fact in the ‘sitemap’ settings – right at the top in big red letters! ??

Nice job on this, and with just a bit more polish, it could be an excellent job!

    Hello @steveraven,

Thank you for contacting and sharing your invaluable feedback. It means a lot to us.

Most of my answers to your questions are already mentioned on this page:
    https://mythemeshop.com/kb/wordpress-seo-plugin-rank-math/score-100-in-tests/

For the numbers in the title, we have the data backing it up. You might have noticed Buzzfeed, and other listicle sites frequently use numbers in their titles. It’s not random as using numbers in titles has proven to increase clicks. Think about it, what sounds more clickable – “How to clean your garage?” or “7 easy ways to clean your garage?”. It’s obviously the second one.

You can, however, skip this test completely and ignore.

For the number of words, I request you to please read this article:
    https://searchengineland.com/seo-user-science-behind-long-form-content-230721

It is inevitable not to write long, in-depth articles. Anything less than 600 words/article doesn’t cut it off unless someone is running a website where the focus is not on the content, like a coupon website. It makes sense from a user’s perspective as well. No one would want to check 5 different articles on a similar topic when one could find all the information in a single long article. Check this article; for instance, we get quite a good engagement on it:
    https://mythemeshop.com/blog/increase-website-traffic/

But, if you are running a website like a coupon one, you can ignore this test as well.

We will see if we can introduce a filter in the plugin soon to remove the readability tests or individual tests from counting up and showing.

We have placed the code to flush the permalink rules when someone saves the Sitemap’s settings, but it seems it needs a re-check.

Sure, we will see what we can do with your suggestion.

Appreciate your time in writing this post and then reading through this reply.

    Thanks for the reply.

Ok, so if I were to write a blog post – ‘My opinion on the New Rank Math Plugin’ – Rank Math’s own SEO criteria would be held back due to it not having a number in it?

I still maintain that this is daft, and the number option and the ‘table of contents’ section should all be lumped together in the ‘readability’ section, with the option to filter it out.

    Hello @steveraven,

    Thanks for bringing this up.

Yes, that is how it works.

We understand that it is not ideal, but as we mentioned, these tests were added after a ton of research and consultation with other SEOs.

With that said, all the given tests should be taken as a guideline rather than a rule. At the end of the day, there is no one-size-fits-all in SEO, and one has to know what works best for their blog posts and ignore the rest.

Having a number in the title can increase the CTR which eventually improves the rankings (we are planning to create an AB split test module down the line). But, we know it is not ideal for every website/blog post and suggest that one simply ignore it.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Which makes it rather imperative that the ‘number’ thing, and the ‘table of contents’ thing, and the whole readability thing, should have a filter on it if we really want 100% scores in Rank Math.

On a different subject – it’s nice to see that you’ve also made enquiries into getting Rank Math sitemaps integrated with WPRocket.

    Hello @steveraven,

Definitely. We will introduce filters for all the tests (almost) and many other things to help developers modify Rank Math according to their needs.

WP Rocket people are generous and gladly accepted to add our compatibility to their plugin.

If you need assistance with anything else, please let us know. Thank you.

Just placed Rank Math onto one of my main sites, and it lasted less time than an ashtray on a motorbike before I swapped back to Yoast.

To be fair, it’s not until you try to edit posts and pages – but then again this should all have been tested beforehand.

On ANY post, page or CPT – it’s impossible to change the snippet – the one that we are reminded so many times will be picked up by Google.

My suggestion here then, is stop arsing about with fancy Javascripts and Ajax, and get the plugin working properly, before it dies even before it has time to get established.

    Hi Steve,

Sorry about that. Please check the console for any possible errors and also mention the plugins and the theme you are using so we can help you further.

We need a bit more information to know where this issue might be coming from.

We look forward to helping you.
