The letter d is showing up at the very top my my pages. When I check the source code I find that it is coming from

    <html xmlns=”https://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml”><head><meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=UTF-8″><title>Texas Heat </title><meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 2.7.1″><meta name=”NextGEN” content=”1.2.1″><meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 2.7.1″><meta name=”NextGEN” content=”1.2.1″><meta name=”NextGEN” content=”1.2.1″><meta name=”NextGEN” content=”1.2.1″></head><body>d

It appears that it id coming from on of the templates in my theme — it isn’t there when I use the basic theme. I’ve checked the header template and index template but can’t find anything.

The url for the site is Texas Heat – Please be advised the site contains graphic sexual images.

  • Looks like it is probably coming from your Themes header.php. Probably the very first character in the file.

I’ve looked through header.php and can’t find anything there that looks like a stray character. I then saved a copy of the original file and replaced it with the header.php from WordPress Classic. The d was still there. It looks like the culprit is another file.

Then you need to go trace your way through the files. if it is only in that theme then it is one of the files in that theme from index.php down. You might also look at the file dates. I only gave the most obvious file to look at.

I was lucky! The little bugger was the first character in the index.php file. Interestingly enough removing the error also corrected a problem I was having with the “ShareThis” pluggin. The settings for ShareThis giveyou an option of having the ShareThis link automatically added to the page, the post or both the page and the post. I had set it to only add it to the post, but it was being displayed at the top of the page right next to the d. Now both of them are gone and the ShareThis link is only being displayed at the end of the post where I wanted it. Things are now the way that I wanted them. I’m happy.

Thanks for your help! I’d never made it without you!
