    Hi –

    Thanks for this plugin — I have not installed yet but will be doing so soon.

    Q: Do you recommend a search plugin that would be compatible?

    Q: I’ve been trying to brainstorm how to use gedcom data as a source for a location based directory — ie use maps to display people. I’m not really a programmer but can mash some stuff together — have you seen anything like this using Roostpersona or other Gedcom data sources?

    basically trying to think how to take the person data and add it to a directory.

    Regards,

    Regular WordPress search works for me.

    I have a plugin, Cemeteriat, for managing small cemeteries. In that plugin I did something with google maps to map the location of grave sites. Are you talking about something like that? I could send you the code…

    @ed4becky – thanks for responding.

    What I’ve been hoping for is a way to display ‘person’ info from the gedcom data onto maps including ‘proximity’ features — ie if you type in Boston, Massachusetts you get pins for a bunch of people with filter selectors for Boston residence, birth, death… and date ranges etc using fields.

    In other websites for different reasons I’ve got business directories that do similar — so it might come down to converting Ged data to a different format — however it is all just a few steps beyond my grasp of programming skills

    right now I’m experimenting with gedcom to csv conversions but not so sure what I’m going to end up with

    CSV is hard because there are so many repeating and nested fields in the GEDCOM
