Mysterious Breaking

We’ll start with this site ??
I noticed ever since my host added free SSL, things haven’t been quite right. For example, on my author website elizabethbarone.net, most of the images suddenly no longer appear. So I figured the best approach was to start from scratch, and finally bought the domain I’ve been wanting to set up (elizabethbaronebooks.com).
I have Host Gator and used Quick Install in Cpanel to install a new WordPress site on elizabethbaronebooks.com. Kept having issues getting it to actually install properly (uninstall, install again, rinse and repeat). Finally get it installed to where I can actually access /wp-admin… and in FTP the whole site is in the wrong directory. No clue how this even makes sense. This happened when I “Quick Installed” my husband’s website a couple months ago; I ended up just manually moving the directory into public_html and nothing exploded, but I’m honestly just a wee bit scared to touch anything right now. I’m thinking Host Gator might want to look into their Quick Install.
So I decide to spend some time on maiettaink.com. Decide to use WooCommerce there instead of on my author website, because hey—maybe it’s all just too much on one WP install. I know, doesn’t make sense, but I’m trying anything and everything. Used Quick Install to uninstall my old WP site (figured starting from scratch was best). Try to install WP using Quick Install—again it’s giving me a heck of a time. Uninstall, install again. Rinse, repeat. Keeps saying there are files that already exist… but when I go to FTP and delete them, I still get that Quick Install error, or there aren’t even any files at all. I decide to wait 24 hours because maybe it’s just not catching up. I really don’t know. Install it again, and I get this error on maiettaink.com:
Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0
Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0
Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required ‘/home4/xxxxxx/public_html/maiettaink.com/wordfence-waf.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/php71/lib/php’) in Unknown on line 0
Very weird—especially because after I uninstall via Quick Install AND delete files via FTP, the error is still there. Cleared my Firefox cache just to be safe—it ain’t me. Obviously all of the garbage Host Gator automatically installs with WP is conflicting somewhere. Used Quick Install to uninstall. Double-checked file manager—no files remaining. Tried to install the old fashioned way—manually, boy that was a trip down memory lane—and even though PHP points to a new database, proper files are in place via FTP, there’s still this error message, as if I never uninstalled the bad Quick Install.
Host Gator oddly isn’t accepting email support requests right now, nor is their live chat working. I have garbage phone service in my apartment, so I can’t get on the phone with them to troubleshoot. Does anyone have any suggestions for what the issue is and how I might fix it? Use small words, please, because it’s been eons since I coded anything and I don’t remember any of it. I thought the whole point of Quick Install was so that I didn’t have to know this stuff anymore. ??
