    Hi

I really appreciate this plugin as it allows users like myself who aren’t code savvy to create custom post types and taxonomies with a GUI. However, because workflow is important to me I was hoping I could suggest a few ideas please?

All of my suggestions will be referring to the Registered Types/Taxes Page.

The first few suggestions I am mentioning here affect both Post Types and Taxonomies in the table.

To start off, is there a way of changing the name under the ‘Post Type’ / ‘Taxonomy’ columns? On my website I have a couple of taxonomies that are almost identical and to get around the problem of having matching slugs I have appended a number at the end. However, for my own reference whilst working in the back-end, I would like to name it to something I understand. At the moment this text is derived from the ‘Post Type Slug’ and ‘Taxonomy Slug’ fields, but changing this would also change the slug, which I don’t want to do.

The next suggestions refer to filtering the information on the table so that it is more relevant. What I mean by this is having collapsible rows so that each listing doesn’t take up a huge chunks on the screen. The information I would most likely need to see for Post Types are the following columns:-

      Post Type
      Taxonomies

For the taxonomies the information from the columns I would prefer to see are:-

      Taxonomy
      Post Types

I suppose a way you could do this is to have a screen option in the top right corner and have the option to turn off certain columns.

Let me know what you think. I’ll be looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Many thanks

    Will

    Hey @willowen100

For the first request, what value were you thinking of wanting to see rather than the post type slug? One of the label values?

The second one would be more involved and difficult at the current state of the plugin, to accomplish. We copied the styles of the table that shows the posts and such, but not the internal functionality. I have a feeling it’d be relatively easy to implement if we did though, similar to how you can hide post columns. The reason we didn’t is because it’s a frowned upon thing to utilize the internal functionality due to WordPress core maybe changing things at any given point.

Appreciate the ideas and if someone chimes in with information I wasn’t aware of, then I’m all ears again.

Let me know about the first question though, as that one should be manageable regardless.

    Hi Michael

In regards to the first request I would like to use pluralplease for both the Post Types and Taxonomy columns please.

If the second request ever goes ahead at some point in the future I’ll be looking forward to it.

    Many thanks

Added the first one to our enhancements list at https://github.com/WebDevStudios/custom-post-type-ui/issues/736 for anyone interested in keeping an eye on it.
