• Hey guys, I currently use memberpress and for some reason their file protection is not working via custom URL. They have essentially told me they can’t do anything so instead I have turned to the download manager!

What I am wondering, is when I upload a file, and then protect in under memberpresses individual file protection rules, it protects this slug

    /download/advantage-oil-and-gas/

    for example.

However, this leads to a page where it gives you the option to download the PDF. Is there any slug that will lead to a direct download of the file that I can protect with memberpress so logged out users cant hotlink the URL, or access is strictly from entering it in the browser? I’ve been trying to fix this all day and it’s getting frustrating.

When I try to protect an custom URL like the direct download link, which would be this

    /download/advantage-oil-and-gas/?wpdmdl=13160

    the protection doesn’t work

Welcome to download manager. We don’t know much about the memberpress, but, we also have an awesome membership plugin https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wp-pro-membership/ to sell subscription and protect downloads under different membership roles.

I would love to try it, but unfortunately we are so far into development with memberpress we simply can’t switch ?? we don’t have enough time until launch.

If we absolutely have to switch, I’d like to know. Does your plugin use the htaccess file to protect files? Because this is whats causing problems for us. And also, it will block hotlinking as well? Somebody simply typing the url of the pdf in their browser will send them to a login or upgrade page?

    Hi,
WPDM has many ways to protect files, one of them is htaccess, you also can use cloud service like Dropbox, Amazon S3 and wpdm has add-ons to attach files from cloud storage and generate temporary download link when a user hits the download button. Simply typing URL will not work there. Use either will see an error message or the login page.
