    Menno,

    I have a few questions.

We are using the foyer plugin on anfroid devices with 2Gb mem.
we see that mp4 movies have a lot of buffering problems, many times the movie hangs or is getting skipped. We tried to use youtube movies but the problem is that the logo of you tube is somethimes on the screen and also it is displaying what is next on youtube, this we cannot use.

Is there any way to increase a cache so that all the movies are played correctly, and is it also possible to link Vimeo movies?

If you want to test the presentation please mail me and i send you the link

    Thanx

    Edwin

    Hi Edwin,

Caching is handled by the device, so I can not influence this from Foyer. Also it could be the device is not powerful enough to play the video smoothly.

If you send me your display URL I’ll have a look!
    https://foyer.tv/send-info/

What device are you using? Are YouTube videos always smooth?

I’m using a Minix X68-i android mini-pc with the Fully Kiosk Browser app, with pretty smooth MP4 / YouTube playback:
    https://www.minixwebshop.nl/minix-x68-i.html
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.ozerov.fully

And you are right about YouTube displaying their logo, title and related videos. It is no longer possible to suppress this, YouTube changed their behaviour recently and now always displays this information.

Only Vimeo videos of paying Vimeo members can be played automatically without controls visible, so at the moment I have no plans to add a Vimeo background to Foyer. If you have a paid Vimeo account you could however select the HD MP4 URL of your video (in the settings screen of your Vimeo video) and use this URL in the Video background of your Foyer slide.

    Hoi Edwin!

I ran your slideshow on my Minix X68-i / Chrome for a couple of hours and I must say the videos run smooth.

However your first slide includes a weather page that also starts a video. This external page is not aware it is on a slide or when that slide is active or not, so that video will always play, simultaneously with the video of the active slide. This might be a bit too much for your device.

My Minix X68-i / Chrome decided not to play that weather background video, so this might also be the reason I see smooth videos and you do not.

Generally speaking for best results don’t include pages / content that runs scripts.

Could you try and see what happens when your slideshow includes video and image slides only?
Next could you try and see what happens when you switch your site (or a test site) to the Twenty Seventeen theme instead of your current theme?

Some themes load a lot of scripts that might slow things down. Still figuring out how to tackle this..

Hoi Edwin! Did you troubleshoot this some more? Would be great to hear if any of the suggestions helped, also to help other users with the same problem.
