I warmly welcome! I’m just working on creating a theme and I admit that this is my first time and the number of required issues is a bit overwhelming ?? I can not understand the issue of child theme. Looking at the requirements it seems that you need to upload this. However, when I look here ( new theme queue ) and browse files, no one adds a child theme. I am therefore a little confused.

Also, regarding the child theme. We also see something like that in the requirements:

Child themes must include more than minor changes (such as font and colour changes) to the parent theme to be accepted.

Hmm… So what exactly do I need to provide in the child theme? Why is it not just simple style.css ( With the necessary information ) and functions.php ( With connected parent’s styles. )? Why do I have to add some additional functions and in addition “larger” than “minor changes”? I would be grateful for clarifying the topic ??

    Thank you!

I’ve removed that amazingly long link. It’s wasn’t adding anything.

Theme Requirements: Do I have to upload a child theme?

Your theme does need to support being child theme’able. And if your submission is a child theme of a theme in the repo then it has to follow and adhere to the same requirements.

Ask on the theme review channel in Slack for more details. You can get directions on how to join via https://make.www.ads-software.com/chat/
