    Good evening

We’re moving our entire order/invoice system over to Woo Commerce and it’s a huge change for our business.

We’re looking for an invoice program to help auto generate them for customers and this seems to work well. But the way we have always operated is that the ORDER NUMBER and INVOICE NUMBER are the same. This has worked well for 15 years with how accounts are produced.

However when we generated an invoice using this plugin it seems to just auto-generate an invoice number (even if we define what number to start from) Which is different to the order number.

Can you set this up so that the two numbers always match? This would be a fantastic help.

    Thank you

Hi! Within WooCommerce, order numbers are not automatically sequential, and even failed orders get order numbers. As a result, if you use the WooCommerce Order Number, you’ll get gaps in the invoice number sequence (since not all orders, like failed orders will have an invoice), which is not allowed in most countries (at least in Europe). This is the reason the invoice number is a separate sequence. More information can be found here:

Why is the PDF invoice number different from the woocommerce order number?

on that same page there’s also a solution if you accept that the invoice numbers will not be sequential that way:

But I want the invoice to have the same number as the order!

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly
We’ve found that on the actual order page. there is a section where you can manually add the invoice number for that order and then generate the invoice. This will work fine.
    Thank you!
