Change Homepage Slider Text

Greetings!

I love the Faith Theme and have been using it for about 6-8 months now with my church. We have use the theme, almost identical to the demo.

I would like to modify the text on the slider, to be custom text, that I identify and not just the first 190 characters of the page’s body. This would be particularly helpful for pages where I don’t have any body content, just photographs or videos. I’ve modified the function page to add an excerpt to all pages, but I am not certain how to display this excerpt as the slider text. Any suggestions would be helpful.
