V3 Failure to Send

    Hi,

    Sorry to join the party with the v3 issues, but many, actually most of my sites are returning the Failure to send form submissions.

    I see a code elsewhere in support to add to functions.php it allowed one form to be sent but still said it had failed on front end. Tried changing the threshold but failure to send is still an issue.

  • Just tested my contact form to see if it was working since swapping to v3 and it turns out I have this issue too, though it’s intermittent. Testing my form myself resulted in failures; someone else testing it for me did not.

    We are experiencing this issue too.

    Sakaane, that’s interesting. I’ll get someone else to check some of our forms from elsewhere. Could be picking up that I’ve made multiple form submissions and suspecting me of spam….

    If I find a work through will repost.

    Given all the other problems people have been having with v3, and all the spam that has been getting through since changing to v3 that never got through on v2, I installed the Contact Form 7 – reCaptcha addon so I could go back to the v2 api. Nice bonus is that it gets rid of the ugly floating reCAPTCHA button appearing on every. single. page. without having to add more CSS to my site hide it.

    @lucy_jo – see Contact Form 7 5.1.1 – theme needs to properly loads JavaScript in the footer area of each page.

    Switch temporarily (nothing will be lost when you switch back) to a WP default theme to see if the problem goes away.

    If this fixes the problem & you can’t get your theme fixed, you might try Contact Form 7 – reCaptcha v2. Once installed and configured it offers the same reCaptcha functionality you are used to in previous versions of Contact Form 7.

    Neil Murray, thank you so much! I searched and searched for this info…. I have just tested this on 4 forms and hey presto!

    Didn’t even have to go back and reset keys.

    @lucy_jo to help me others here, I’m interested to know if you found that switching to a WP default theme initially solved your problems.

    Nope, sorry I didn’t try- needed a quick, easy option. The v2 plugin has worked now on 20 sites I manage so am happy with that ?? Just have to update another lot of sites… loooong night ahead!

    Although I will add, the plugin says you still need the [recaptcha] on the forms backend…. I haven’t re-added and form submissions still going through fine.
