I’m trying to set up Woocommerce. I have Jetpack installed and everything looks looks good until I go to the tax tab within Settings. I want to enable automated taxes, but when I do that, a number of options become greyed out. One of those is the option to enter prices inclusive of tax (something I want to do). Related are the boxes enabling me to display prices with tax included – just not possible to select this.

The second option greyed out is to select how to calculate tax. It’s defaulted to by shipping address, and I can’t change this to by billing address.

If anyone can tell me what I’m doing wrong I’d be really grateful. Thanks

    Hi there,

I want to enable automated taxes, but when I do that, a number of options become greyed out.

This is by design. Automated taxes will set those options for you, so that’s why they’re greyed out and you cannot select them.

The second option greyed out is to select how to calculate tax. It’s defaulted to by shipping address, and I can’t change this to by billing address.

Automated Taxes work by calculating what taxes your customer will be required to pay based on the shop base address that you’ve entered under WooCommerce > Settings.

One of those is the option to enter prices inclusive of tax (something I want to do). Related are the boxes enabling me to display prices with tax included – just not possible to select this.

If you want to enter prices inclusive of tax, then you won’t be able to use Automated taxes. You’ll need to disable that option and enter tax rates manually.
