    Hi,

Please could you send us a copy of the backup log? This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.

The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Regards,

    Hi,

The screenshot of your existing backups doesn’t show any backup of the database. Presumably you hadn’t made one? Did you configure UpdraftPlus to send you an email report after a backup? If so, the backup log file is attached to that, and it will tell you/us if you’d configured UpdraftPlus to backup the database or not.

    Hi David,

I have posted the only log file available on google drive here

However as explained, that log was made post-installation after failure. I do not have any other logs and have not received an email with log attached.

    Here’s the chronology:

    – Website working
    – Installed upDraftPlus
    – Initiated backup of website
    – Received confirmation of 2 successful backups made
    – website failed/deleted from server (likely configuration issues with host)
    – wordpress reinstalled
    – website restored with upDraft
    – no database restored (2 backups pre-failure still available on google drive and wp plugin
    – 1 log file on website (small – linked above)

I do not know if database was backed up, but the screen shot shows all options that were available also at the time of backing up. I am waiting to see if a db file exists before beginning to re-make website from scratch.

I appreciate your support here and would be willing to purchase support if that would allow more thorough investigation of problem. Please let me know. I will linkto all data I have from upDraftPlus in next reply below.

    Thank you,

    Vishnu

@matriima I’ve archived your reply and flagged your account for your own good. Here’s why: the backup files that you’ve exposed may have more information in it than you meant and that can be bad.

Log files are OK. Generally. Full or partial backups can go very wrong if people accidentally include their mysql backup.

Thank you. I will await further instruction if bu files are requested.

Unfortunately the organization has recently become very active and could use the website for coordination and data exchange this week, as well as publicity.

I will soon have to forget restoring and begin manual rebuild from the available pieces.

    Hi,

Unfortunately, if no backup of the database was made, then it’s not possible to re-create it from the backups of the files. They’re fairly orthogonal to eachother. You’re correct to say that logs of trying to restore the parts that were backed up won’t give any information about whether other parts were backed up. The only way to get that information is to recover it from the original log file. But, if there was no database backup in Google Drive, then the strong presumption is that the database wasn’t selected in the options for backup.

Not good news, but I appreciate your time to look into this. Thank you.
