    Hi there!

I have read the previous posts about this subject. I’m using GeneratePress standard with Elementor Pro. I deactivated, and then uninstalled the Disable Comments plugin (which worked wonderfully for the years that I needed it, thank you).

I did ensure that the comments were reactivated in the WordPress settings, and I couldn’t find a comments setting in the Generate Press customization settings.

I even uninstalled and deleted Generate Press, installed Twenty Nineteen, made sure that the comments box was checked, posted a test post, and there still was no comments box. I even reinstalled the latest version of WordPress. I downloaded Generate Press again, and reinstalled it.

Still no comment box. Just to cover all my bases, I hope, I used a few different browsers, cleared their caches, and even restarted my computer, just to be sure.

Is there any possibility that there is some small bit of code from the plugin that is lingering somewhere that can be removed or altered?

    Thank you!

    Hi again!

As a follow-up, I deactivated Elementor Pro, and the comment box finally appeared. Not sure what the issue is then.

No, there isn’t. WordPress deletes all the plugin code when you uninstall it.

Glad you got it sorted. I am fairly sure that every time this happens another plugin/theme has applied some configuration of its own that determines whether or not comments are allowed, perhaps in response to Disable Comments disabling that functionality originally. It’s very difficult to pin down without being able to reproduce though, which is difficult for proprietary/paid packages like Elementor Pro.
