Missing Theme Format

Hello, thefarmwife.

Thank you for contacting us and for using our theme. We appreciate it.

I’ve just visited your website and the theme is there (you can see “Kale by LyraThemes.com.” in the footer) but what’s missing is the whole header section, and that includes the stylesheet. That’s why your website is visually broken right now.

Could you tell me whether you’ve done anything prior to this happening, like installing some plugin, adding some JavaScript or maybe editing the header.php file?

The only thing I have done is add the Google Analytics script in header.php – but that was weeks ago. Nothing since. I did look at the editor, trying to find a <title> area, because I have a double title. When I didn’t see it, I got out without making any changes. Editor scares me, because I am not tech savvy! This just happened as of yesterday. If you can tell me how to get rid of the double title as well, I would be forever grateful!

May I now warn you against ever touching any theme file directly, using built-in Editor?

There are two reasons for that. First, any change you make that way, will get overwritten when the theme gets updated, and second and more important, you might end up in a situation like this.

For the situations when you need to insert anything in the header or footer, please use Insert Headers and Footers plugin – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/insert-headers-and-footers/

I see that your website is behind “Coming Soon” page now, if you don’t solve this yourself, please let me know.

Thank you. I did get it fixed – I activated a different theme, deleted the one I was using, re-installed it and re-activated it. Other than a few minor tweeks, it is fine now. Thank you also for the link on how to insert into headers and footers. And I promise you – from here on out, I will never even click on Editor! I do appreciate your assistance.
