Oh NO! This is pretty scary for anyone trying to make a living from the Amazon Associates Program using API.

Can anyone answer this? Hopefully an Amazon Rep.:

Does the 2019 Product Advertising API requirement change notification effect this “Amazon Associates Link Builder Plugin”?

So we all received this email from Amazon stating the following:
    —- Start of email —–
    Hi,
You are receiving this message in relation to your associate account ######. We are writing to inform you that we are changing our Amazon Product Advertising API (PA API) access and request limit terms in order to better align PA API availability with associates’ usage. Effective January 23, 2019:

To retain access to PA API, associates must refer at least one qualifying sale through PA API in the last 30 days.

The PA API request limit for each account will be calculated based on the qualified sales referred during the last 30 days.
    —- End of email —-

Is the “Amazon Associates Link Builder” Plugin considered to be part of this since it uses API?

In _theory_ if you’re running v1.9.0+:

    1.9.0 – JANUARY 29, 2019
Added Product Advertising API (PA-API) response caching feature. This feature will prevent PA-API throttle by caching PA-API response and updating the cache asynchronously.

So looks like Amazon have given us some way around this! ??

    Hi Will,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I’m currently using Version 1.9.1 (Feb 8, 2019).
The link you provided takes me to the plugin page and I’m not sure where to look for the answer that you are speaking of “So looks like Amazon have given us some way around this! ??”

    Basically, my question is:
Is using the ” Amazon Associates Link Builder ” fall under the new API rule?

Hi @salesprodomains – if you go to the plugin page, then click on the “Development” tab and look at the details for the 1.9.0 release, within the details you’ll see:
    “1.9.0 – JANUARY 29, 2019
Added Product Advertising API (PA-API) response caching feature. This feature will prevent PA-API throttle by caching PA-API response and updating the cache asynchronously.”

So in theory, AALB might be able to bypass the new API limits, then again when I was using 1.9.0 I was seeing a huge number of errors (see: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/v1-9-0-issues/#post-11166523) relating to API limits so I’m not 100% sure! You definitely need the guys that maintain aalb to confirm in all honesty, but the release notes for 1.9.0 read as if it “alleviates” some of the limit concerns

    Hello Everyone,
I created this post to try to get an Amazon Rep to answer the following question:

“Does the 2019 Product Advertising API requirement change notification effect this “Amazon Associates Link Builder Plugin”?”

For any other Amazon Plugin issue could you kindly create a separate post as we try to get AMAZON to answer us. I’m not sure why they are dodging this simple question.

    Thank you awesome affiliates!
