I have both Jetpack and Yoast SEO installed. I use them for different things; I control my SEO settings through Yoast, whereas I use Jetpack for comments, subscriptions, and other functions. Yesterday, I logged onto WordPress, and it had me update Jetpack to version 7.0. Then, when I went to add a new post, all of the metadata that Yoast typically allows me to customize — slug, snippet, etc. — wasn’t visible. I used WP Rollback to have Jetpack revert to version 6.9, at which point all of Yoast’s options appeared again.

So, is the newest version of Jetpack simply incompatible with Yoast SEO, so that I can’t properly use both? I ran “Debug” on Jetpack 7.0, and the “SEO” module wasn’t clicked (it wasn’t even clickable), so it seems strange that this new version would somehow override Yoast’s metadata capabilities.

Is anyone else having this issue? As Jetpack continues to evolve, I want to make sure that I can continue to use it for subscriptions while still using Yoast for SEO management.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

We’re not aware of an incompatibilities with Yoast SEO, and I just checked with Jetpack 7.0 and Yoast SEO 9.5 on top of WordPress 5.0.3 myself and couldn’t see the issue described.

Perhaps another plugin or theme function is sort of causing a conflict between the two? Please attempt to disable all plugins except Jetpack and Yoast SEO, and switch to the default Twenty Nineteen theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

I understand what you’re saying, but I feel like the proof that Jetpack is causing the problem is pretty definitive. Again, the problem only presented itself when I upgraded to Jetpack 7.0, and more importantly, it went away when I rolled back to Jetpack 6.9. So I don’t really see the point in trying to control for other variables.

I suppose it’s possible that my THEME (Astrid) doesn’t like Jetpack 7.0 for some reason. But there’s no way that I can change my theme long-term, so that would just be a dead end.

    Hi Jeremy,

I feel like the proof that Jetpack is causing the problem is pretty definitive. Again, the problem only presented itself when I upgraded to Jetpack 7.0, and more importantly, it went away when I rolled back to Jetpack 6.9.

All that indicates is that something on your site might have a conflict with Jetpack 7.0 that it did not have with Jetpack 6.9. It’s not definitive proof that Jetpack 7.0 is incompatible with Yoast SEO, especially not since both appear to work fine if they’re the only plugins running on a site in our testing.

I suppose it’s possible that my THEME (Astrid) doesn’t like Jetpack 7.0 for some reason. But there’s no way that I can change my theme long-term, so that would just be a dead end.

We’re not asking that you change your theme long-term. But to have any hope of fixing this we need to be able to confirm exactly what is causing the problem. A plugin or theme conflict is the most likely cause for this type of issue, which is why it’s usually the first thing support for any plugin will ask you to rule out.

If you use the Health Check plugin that @macmanx recommended above you can do this without affecting how your site looks to visitors while you’re busy.

Just to be clear, this is about finding what is introducing the conflict, so that we can begin to address this, because so far we cannot reproduce the conflict with just Jetpack 7.0 and Yoast SEO 9.5 on top of WordPress 5.0.3.

I have Jetpack 7.5.1 which is incompatible with Yoast 5.2.2

    I am using PHP 7.2.7

I get an error message from Jetpack

    @poltraxx,

If you’re experiencing an issue related to Jetpack and Yoast on your site, please open your own forum thread at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/jetpack/#new-post or open a support ticket at https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support, and include a link to your site and more information on exactly what’s not working, and we can help you investigate.

Please don’t post into months-old resolved topics by other users, especially as the OP’s issue in this thread was regarding completely different versions of both these plugins.

An error message does not mean the plugins are incompatible, and thousands of people use both Jetpack and Yoast on their sites with no issues at all. If you open your own support request we’re happy to help you find out exactly what is causing the problems you’re seeing.
