Hi, earlier I was playing around with the Search and Replace plugin. I moved all my media files to a new location, and attempted to re-index them but quickly realized I didn’t know what I was doing. I was doing dry runs but still restored with the backup .sql file I created with that plugin. Afterwards though, I noticed the emoticons in my blog posts were replaced with ‘????’, and suddenly I didn’t feel so good.

I had an Updraftplus backup of my Database handy and restored for the first time, and everything appears normal again (and I’m very happy ??), but I’m overly cautious and wondering, is this all I need to restore?

    Hi,

Yes, if you have manually moved all the other components then no need to restore the other components (themes, plugins, uploads and others).

Components? Are you talking about the media files? cuz I moved them back to the original location too.

    Hi,

If you already restored plugins, themes, uploads and other folders, then you don’t have to restore them again.

As all media files by default are uploaded to uploads folder.

If you have anymore questions, please feel free to write back to us.

    Have a nice day!
