old administrator left no clues

  • Our old wordpress administrator quit and left without leaving a clue how to manage our account users. I don’t have access to his administration passwords etc…what do i do to keep the site running short of rebuilding everything. Can i contact someone to cancel his privileges and install me instead?

    Not without paying them. However, there may be a way you can sort this out yourself. Do you have access to the previous administrator’s email account?

    Thanks for responding. I do have access to his email account.

    Then you may be able to reset the admin email using that account. If not, do you have access to the blog database via phpMyAdmin? If so, then log in and change the admin password and make sure there are no other “strange” users in that table…see the following video to reset the admin password via phpMyAdmin:
