Image Browser help please

Hey ho
Just reinstalled my whole wordpress and am having problems getting image browser working again!
I’ve used absolute-path.php to get the exact path for me and cut and pasted it into the options screen.
However, I continue to get the error saying that “It doesn’t look like you can use the file upload feature at this time because the directory you have specified (/home/ektopian/public_html/ektopia/images) doesn’t appear to be writable by WordPress. Check the permissions on the directory and for typos.”
I’ve checked the CHmod and changed it to 666, 777, 766, 755 etc with no joy.
Any advice? Kind of lost without it now!
