Not support as such. More a bit of constructive criticism.

Firstly I’ve got to say that, so far, I’m loving the plugin. Apart from some odd behaviour in other parts of my site which may or may not be related to the Rank Math plugin (a possible conflict with Page Builder by SiteOrigin, for instance, and various plugins mysteriously deactivating themselves), it seems very comprehensive. Possibly too comprehensive in some ways.

One of the first things I think you should consider leaving out of the plugin is the Directory Listing feature. It’s unnecessary for a plugin of this type as that’s a soft security issue and really nothing to do with SEO. One of the BIG problems with this feature is that it is, more or less, unobtainable insofar as it basically requires you to put a blank index.html page in each and every folder in the WordPress installation that doesn’t already have one.

Has anyone really got the time to do this? I know my time is better spent elsewhere.

The fact is that well over half of the plugins and many of the themes do not have index.html files in all of their folders. Heck, even the Rank Math plugin only has index pages in half of their folders. It’s a bit much to expect it of other creators when Rank Math doesn’t even match the criteria themselves. I know that this is a bit of a nitpick, but still. I just felt I should give you some food for thought.

One other thing – and I assume it’s already on the agenda – is lose the warning for Google Plus Connected. The silly thing is only going to be around for another month or two so better off just removing it sooner rather than later, don’t you think?

One last thing. The Page Objects warning seems a little low to me at only 20 requests. Sure I understand that less is more and we all want our sites to load quickly and efficiently, but any half decent website that’s been around a little while has quite a number of plugins for usability purposes. 20 requests seems a little too much on the slim size, to me. That’s just my opinion though.

Again, I should say that I’m enjoying Rank Math a lot, and look forward to seeing its development in the future. Keep up the good work!

    Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, we really appreciate it.

Regarding the Directory Listing test, you are right in that it is not directly related to SEO. We will consider removing it from the Analysis. It should be pointed out that you can fix this issue with a simple htaccess rule, or by asking your hosting provider to change the server configuration and disable the directory listing.

We already have plans of removing the Google Plus-related functionality, this will be implemented in an update in the coming weeks.

As for the warning in the Page Objects test, we will definitely consider increasing the limit.

Thanks again for the feedback. If there’s anything else, please let us know.
