Just upgraded to 5.1. What I’m seeing is that when I go to add a link, it doubles the writing. For instance, let’s say I write the words “something is wrong.” I then highlight the words something is wrong, then click the insert/edit link button. Then the link options button, and check the button to open in a new tab. When I click the ok button, it looks like

something is wrongsomething is wrong rather than just something is wrong

It doubles up. Could it be the official plugin for Classic Editor causing this problem?

    Hi @william-teach,

I have upgraded as well, and have tested this in my classic editor. It seems to work fine for me. I’m wondering if your theme might be causing this.

    What theme are you using?

I’ve not seen this issue within the standard Gutenberg Paragraph block. Am using Firefox 65.

It seems to happen only in Firefox while using the Classic Editor in Visual mode. Works fine in Text mode in FF and all modes in Chrome. I’ve tried it on multiple computers. Have not tried in other browsers.

Shouldn’t be the theme, as it is occurring within the WP admin panel while writing the post in the Classic Editor.

Well, I tried both the Classic Block within Gutenberg and using the Classic Editor plugin and creating links worked fine in both. Firefox 65.0.1 in Windows 7.

Interesting. It happens to me in both Windows 10 and whatever version we have at work with Firefox.
