Insert Gallery Group so that it starts at certain gallery or subgroup

I have a main gallery group, but to integrate the galleries with my website navigation bar I generate subsites for the minor groups and galleries. Now if I start out from the main group I automatically have a go back link, which is missing if the user goes directly to the page where the single gallery is inserted. Now this could be resolved if I could insert the group and specifically tell it to start as this subgroup of it. Yes I could insert manual links back to the main page, but they would have a different feel. How else can this problem be resolved?
