• This plugin is a major oversell. This plugin promises to duplicate a site. Makes it harder than a manual transfer of DB and Files. This plugin is not efficient and should not be in the workflow of anyone that transfers or migrates websites regularly. Rather, a file transfer and DB edit to the wp_options, and a copy/paste of the config file is much easier than the hassle that this Duplicator plugin makes you endure. Excruciating. Way more time is needed to install a site with duplicator. Duplicator, you made your own install file? What were you guys thinking? Make a duplicator plugin for the receiving site to migrate the sites without needing to go through cPanel/FTP. Then you would be actually doing a service. But right now, you’re just causing headaches.

  • Hi, I’m sorry you feel that way. Actually, quite a few people like the way Duplicator does things. One major advantage of the Duplicator way is that it captures your exact WordPress site – including the core, not just the content files. So when you restore you are getting an exact duplicate (not mixing the core on the destination with a set of content and database files from the source as is the case in some other plugins).

Also, we’ve had quite a few people express appreciation for not having to go through the hassle of installing WordPress and the plugin itself in order to restore. So in the end, I believe it comes down to personal preference.

I have used this plugin without incident for just about 6 years now. I have moved over 300 sites without fail.

I just had to comment this morning as I just did another site move and update in less than 10 minutes for a 400 kilobyte WordPress build.

I am in the process of upgrading to a PRO license due to the great features and constant improvements this plugin offers.

Always happy to assist anyone to figure it out …

    Have a great day.
