• I had Wordfence installed on my site that I later changed the domain of and transferred over. Wordfence now recognizes my login as a spam bot. Have followed instructions to help me get in, thought I cleaned it up but it still keeps thinking I’m a bot and locking me out. I need to “factory reset” it somehow as I’m on a new domain and Wordfence is just not adjusting.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Your domain is listed as sending spam. You have to fix that issue.

    Hi @bbubbs,

Can you take a look at Wordfence -> Tools -> Live Traffic? Find where it blocked you out and expand the row to see why you were blocked.

@wfdave Hi Dave, it says my login name was invalid but that is my actual login name and I’ve successfully logged in with it previously. I’m not sure why it’s picking up my login as spam now.

    @iframe I don’t understand.

If you are listed in the ‘spammers’ database, it is because you, your machine, or a previous user of the address sent unsolicited bulk, commercial, religious or political email to any of the spam traps.

    How do I fix this @iframe ?

Talk to you host. Sometimes even a mail router could be misconfigured, that’s a server-side issue. You have no control over it anyway. Create a ticket.

Thanks @iframe – Spoke to my host and because it’s a new domain, it was listed as spam under something called Sem Fresh. But this is lifted after 5 days for some reason.
I still believe there is something else happening with Wordfence as my pervious domain had no issue and that was also a new domain at the time. I need to somehow completely reset Wordfence and start over somehow. But I will give it a few days to see if it’s related. Thanks again

    SEM means Spam Eating Monkey.
As of today, your domain listed there 4 times.

FTP to you site, change wordfence folder name to some different name so you would be able to login bypassing wordfence.
While you are logged in, FTP new wordfence folder name back to wordfence.
Reload the browser, click through Wordfence – Firewall – Blocking.
Check the reason your username got blocked, it could be expired already so you would need to log out, log in and get blocked again.
After you are able to read the reason, if it’s blocked by WordFence Network, as they name it, your problem is related to SEM listing.

Thanks @iframe I will get in touch with my hosting provider again regarding the SEM listings. As for changing the Wordfence folder name, I’ve done that and looked at the reasons it blocked me. As stated above, Wordfence states my login name is invalid and blocks me as spam. However under my previous domain, the same login name had no issue with Wordfence. Since changing my domain name, my login name is recognized as spam.

Ok so hosting provider says Wordfence is separate issue from SEM blacklisting. They suggested I uninstall and reinstall Wordfence, which I have already done. But the problem persists because Wordfence remembers all my information. I need to completely wipe it. Someone please help me with this! I am so frustrated.
As for the SEM listing, my hosting provider says it’s only because my domain is new and to just wait. I don’t see how the listing is a problem as of yet.

Find Wordfence All Options – Wordfence Global Option – check Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation.

Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation
By default, if you disable Wordfence, the database tables will remain in place with their data. This is to ensure that if you accidentally or temporarily disable Wordfence, you won’t lose your configuration or the data you have accumulated like the live traffic data.

If you would like to remove all Wordfence data when you deactivate the plugin, check this box and when you disable the plugin all tables, entries in the WordPress options table, scheduled jobs and any other stored data associated with Wordfence will be removed.

If you then reactivate Wordfence, it will appear as if it has been activated on your website for the first time

Sorry yes I did this @iframe and tested it. Still blocks my login name. I added my static IP to the whitelist but that didn’t work either. I’ve given up. Something is wrong with my login for some reason. I will have to create a new one.
