I can send a “text proof” on your form correctly, check now.

It’s not actually “resolved” because the only reason it is working atm is because I disabled reCAPATHA V3 which allows the form to work. If I have recaptcha enabled it doesn’t work since the website is running WP 5.1

You may see this error if you’ve:

    • previously used reCAPTCHA v2 with CF7
    • updated to CF7 5.1.1 or newer and
    • not changed your previous reCAPTCHA v2 keys to reCAPTCHA v3 keys at Contact > Integration.

The API keys for reCAPTCHA v2 don’t work with the reCAPTCHA v3 API.

If you don’t update any previous reCAPTCHA v2 keys, your forms users will likely see this error & your form may no longer send emails when the form is submitted.

I am in fact using reCAPTCHA V3. It works as long as my wordpress version doesn’t go to 5.1. As soon as I upgrade to 5.1 it breaks the form.

I’ve reverted my install of wordpress back to 5.0 and this form works now but if I upgrade again it breaks it. I have 4 wordpress sites and all of them suffer the same fate.

I just tried testing your site. Please clarify what is running on your site NOW.

Right now it is running WordPress 5.0.3 as I reverted back from 5.1.
reCAPATCHA V3 is enabled & form is working as expected.

When I was running 5.1 with reCAPATCHA V3 the form failed to work, Once I deleted the recapatcha keys from the site the form would then work.

Thanks I just tested your from again.

    I’m using WP 5.1 + CF7 5.1.1 + reCAPTCHA v3 on several sites without problems.

It’s possible that your theme or one of the plugins you are using is not compatible with WP 5.1 & preventing CF7’s JavaScript from running. CF7 5.1.1 with reCAPTCHA v3 needs functioning JavaScript.

This could cause the There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later. error in the orange border.

Just to show an example of that WP 5.1 breaks contact form 7 with recaptcha I have a sandbox site setup with a form at https://snapgeek.com/sg2/book-your-appointment which currently fails with the error “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.”

This same form worked prior to WP 5.1. Only thing I changed was I did the upgrade to 5.1

I resolved my own problem. I removed the buggy plugin “Really Simple CAPTCHA” which doesn’t work and installed this plugin instead https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wpcf7-recaptcha

Using recaptcha v2 again which works great.
