I have several pages on my site that are marked Private but they are in the sitemap that Elevate created. This is causing Google crawl errors. If I delete them from the xml manually will they reappear? Perhaps the plugin could check the page visibility settings?

When, how often, are the sitemaps created?

    Hi,

Yes, that would be a bug. I’ll push out an update this weekend I hope with that fix. Thanks for letting me know.

Hmm, looking at the code actually I’m surprised that’s the case. Can you give me an example of a post on your site?

    Thanks,
    Duane

Can you update to version 1.2.1 and see if that improves anything?

If not, perhaps you can set me up with an account and I can debug locally.

    Thanks,

Sure. Can you tell me how the site map creation is triggered. Will it be recreated upon the update or does something else need to happen ie Cron

If the admin there is a top level Elevate SEO menu at the very top – you should be able to regenerate the sitemap there.

Let me know if you need help.

Ok it regenerated when I updated. I also tried the top menu option after deleting a page. Checked the other crawl errors and the rest are due to pages that are marked-up as no-index but being submitted in the sitemaps. These pages are from easy digital downloads cart pages. Not sure how much google cares about that.

Yoast is no longer supporting installs on < WP 5.0 so alternatives are good to have.

    Thanks for the fix

So the original error is fixed then, i.e. private pages are being excluded now?

You said some pages are marked no-index, and they are still in the sitemap? Are they marked that way in Elevate? If so that’s another issue I’ll address.

    Thanks,
    Duane

    Yes original error is fixed.

Not sure how to see them in Elevate?

On the “Search” settings page, you can enable “Allow editing the index status”, and it should show up on each post.

Ok, marking this one as resolved, but if you still feel like there is another issue, please just open a new ticket. Thanks.
