A client has tasked me with writing a very short quiz to help them identify the more well-qualified people to work on their WP site. If you frequent Upwork or Freelancer, you know that there are many potential clients ‘out there’ who are not qualified to make wise hiring decisions or even write ‘sane-sounding’ digital requirements for the tech people they want to bring on board (this client is one of those, and they realize it).

So if you were hiring someone to work on your WP site, what are the 1 or 2 most crucial questions you would ask to test their knowledge for working on WP? Questions that might be especially useful would be those that reveal if the worker knows WP core functions that are ‘built-in’ and do NOT require development or a new plugin.

    Example:
Your requirement is to force every request to the site to automatically go secure (https). SSL/TLS is already installed. What do you do?
    a) identify and install a plugin
    b) edit .htaccess
    c) contact the hosting company

My hope is that everyone here will benefit from having a wide range of qualifying questions from the answers we’ll soon see below. Thanks for helping!

@elronaldo This site is for support questions for WordPress. A topic like yours makes an interesting blog post or tweet, but it’s not appropriate for here. It would lead to all sorts of spammy stuff. Accordingly, I’m going to close the topic.
