I upgraded to 2.8 on 3 of my 10 sites and on each site i have a different problem. Before the update the sites had been running fine for years. However one of the problems im having is i cant upload images. On one site i must save the post before it will let me upload any images and this still very rarely works. On another site no matter what i do or try i get ‘Fatal error: Out of memory’. I am a big fan and i love the program but honestly i have just about had it with 2.8 already. my site shave been useless ever since upgrade. If the devs keep this kind or work up i fear that Wp will be on its way out.

try the wp-config.php trick, see if that helps.

Did you test the upgrade away from the live sites first?..

    If not, why not…

If you have various plugins on the sites, then all the more reason to have done testing before deploying upgrades..

This way you’d be debugging any problems away from the live site(s)..

Perhaps if you give details about these installs you mgith get some additional advice..

    Server configs:
    Plugins:
    Themes:
    Previous Version:
Upgrade methods: FTP (manual) or directly from the admin (auto update).

Not saying you can expect everyone to flood in with responses to your issues, just that more details of your particular setup(s) would go a long way..

Im not talking about plugin trouble. And yes of course i tested the site before, but working on a new off site install is much different than upgrading a real live site. I would think anyone would know this. Plus the media upload problems seem to be pretty common since 2.8. Ill just wait for a solution since im not going to go through the time to list 3 different sites and all there specs.

    https://jericosystems.com (image upload problems)
    https://vasthtml.com (admin menu problems)
https://crowzero.com (image upload problems)(nude site: stay out kiddies)

Oddly enough none of these issues turned up in my testing.. Kinda like they didnt show up when the devs was testing 2.8 beta.

You can test and test and test for years. But nothing is for sure till you put it on a live site.

2.8 has a lot of bugs. Wait for 2.8.1 ??

And whats to stop you copying your live site onto the local install? I didn’t mean a new install.

A live install is not hugely different then a local one..
Upgrading my site was no different local and live.

A web server is still essentially a PC with an operating system… so unless your typing on a carrot then i’d guess you have a PC infront of you to.

If you don’t want to list the specs for 3 sites, then how about 1 site, perhaps work on one problem at a time..

Im not talking about plugin trouble.

Maybe not, but have you actually tried disabling them to see if this helps?

I’ve only one found problem with 2.8 since updating, and that’s been older plugins that rely on deprecated functions. There’s also some minor errors appearing in the error logs, but these are only minor Jquery related ones..

You can test and test and test for years. But nothing is for sure till you put it on a live site.

Nothing is ever guaranteed no… the only problem i’ve ever encountered between a local install and a live one was a path issue. The paths differed on the live site, however this particular server was a Virtual Private server running under Fedora that didn’t use anything friendly like Cpanel, so it did require lots of work…. so little issues like that (in my mind) were to be expected, fortunately it wasn’t my server and the person running the server knew his Linux stuff.. ??

Problems are about detective work sometimes, you have to start somewhere, then work your way through it…. process of elimination..

Of course if you’re hoping the next update will magically fix everything i’ll keep my fingers crossed for you .. ??
