Waiting for platform.twitter.com

    While working on building a site, I keep finding my page load completely stalled, with “Waiting for platform.twitter.com” appearing in the bottom left of Firefox window. The only way out is to stop loading and refresh the page. This has been an issue in Firefox since 2011 (apparently) but v irritating.

    Is there any way to tell Firefox (from the server end!) that this embed is ‘non-critical’ content, and to get on with rendering the rest of the page, rather than waiting indefinitely for the (often overloaded) Twitter servers? I’m guessing there might, for example, be an SEO trick that would achieve this?
