  • I like it! It certainly doesn’t look like a wordpress site. What theme did you use as your base? Did you have to do a lot of back end work to set this up?

… umm, I didn’t use any theme. First made a design with CSS & HTML and then converted it into WordPress.

By backend, do you mean Database. I think I wouldn’t say that I had to lot of backend work.

If you mean PHP, then yes that has to be catered at many places. Had to create two of my own plugins too for it ??

Really like the nav – nice work:)

Am noticing a few things that I would correct:

    1. When I click the slide-show, I arrive at https://www.ewp.eu/our-vision which serves a 500 error.

    2. The thumbnails under the “Projects” heading link to themselves – I believe that your visitors would be better served by linking them to the project which the represent. I, for one, am more likely to click on the picture rather than the heading.

    Other than that, great job!

Thanks a lot for these bugs!

I fixed the slide-show thing. It was a 404. I dont know why my site gives a Internal Server 500 for a 404…

The Projects Tab actually is a user-uploaded picture and user controls all the things… It is weird that I cant control it … as when user uploads a picture, the link is automatically attached with it ??

Wish there was some fix for it …

    Many Thanks !

    No problem!

Looks to me like the images are being uploaded via WordPress:

    https://www.ewp.eu/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/erp3.jpg

That looks like a WordPress attachment to me.

What code are you using to generate this on your frontpage? It’s 100% controllable through code.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Actually, it is an editor that user uploads an Image and when the user selects it, the code is automatically added in.

Do you think that we can do something about it ?

    Many thanks.

great images, nice animated slideshow, very consistent design generally.
i just feel that the dropdown menus don’t fit in; i find them too dark and with the rounded edges they look like blobs – they break the clean square desing of the rest of the site.

    Thread Starter fas.khan

    (@faskhan)

Thanks a lot for your honest feedback.

and with your comment of dropdown menus … I completely agree. But I had to go with my client here who wanted to have bold colors with the menu.

Do you think it really looks bad ? If yes, then I may pursue the spokesperson of my client; as they are now quite happy with what we see …

    Again, best regards

Something can definitely be done about it. Can really tell you what without understanding the situation more.

    1. Does a plugin that automatically adds the code?
    2. Where is the image html generated?
    – “on the fly” in the theme’s homepage?
    – Via wp-admin and then inserted into the post as html?

    Thread Starter fas.khan

    (@faskhan)

actually your questions had answer in them already!

    How stupid I am.

It was embedding a link when the user uploaded the link. Simple editing/disabling of it has done it.

It is in full swing now ??

    Many Thanks.

    Nice, very nice.

As a graphic designer, I’m not sure about the justified text used for the three columns in the ‘Projects’ section of the homepage….you’ve got some noticeable pools and rivers appearing between words. Now, I can see what you were trying for, but I’m not sure about the outcome. — This is just my opinion.

Apart from that, the site looks great! ??

    Thread Starter fas.khan

    (@faskhan)

wow Leon, that is very true actually.

If said truthfully, then it is actually a flaw in my design, I was left with no other option. May be I should have shown them from up to down rather than in a parallel position …

not much proud of it ….

“May be I should have shown them from up to down rather than in a parallel position … “ Not sure what you mean. In as few words as possible, just experiment and see what it would look like first. Definitely approach justified text with caution when using fluid layouts!

Don’t be hard on yourself man ??

I’m glad you posted this, I like the site design very much. I found it easy to navigate and quite attractive. I did have some trouble sending you a message via your feedback form … the status indicator kept cycling and it appeared that the message never sent. Maybe just a momentary server glitch?

I’ve also set up WordPress as a CMS at https://www.gazehound.com — the site is set with static pages and there is a multi-topic blog as well. I did start with a free theme and adapted it to suit my needs. It’s my first attempt at remaking my own website with WordPress, and I’m glad I chose this system to do the job.

    @leon,

hahah! Thanks Man and thanks for that link… I will definitely make something out of it.

    @dragondreamz,

Thanks a lot for your compliment. I actually dont know what might have been the problem with the Contact Form, but it always worked.

I gave it a few tries even now.

Regarding your site, bravo to you for handling quite a big site in WordPress. But I did find the left column links a bit of confusing …
Did you try the plugin named “Fold Page List”?

    ~Many many Thanks.
