Hi there, I have enabled the lazy load option. However the google page test keeps telling me to ‘defer off screen images.’ So I assume it’s not working?

The image compression is working great though!

    Tom

    Hello tomtjc,

I have checked your site in the Google Page speed and it has 96 score and there are no issues with images there.
Did you manage to fix this problem?

    kind regards,
    Kasia

    Hi Kasia, thank-you for that.

Upon closer inspection of the speed test, it was the slider images which couldn’t obviously lazy load. I have just removed the slider now.

The Google page speed I am getting is 76. Curious on your end it is coming up as 96!

    Thank-you for your help.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hello @tomtjc

Appreciate the feedback on this. It’s known that some sliders are having some issues with lazy-loading as most of these are using JS code to resize the images and then Smush can’t find the proper data during initial page load.

As for the score, I guess that this can change a bit from time to time, mainly cause of the actual server response that can’t be the exact same each time. Currently, I see a score of 84.

    Warm regards,
    Dimitris

Same issue, but I’m testing a page without sliders – https://decorinteriorsus.com/blog/outdoor/best-luxury-outdoor-furniture-brands/

Decent desktop score (94), but the mobile is not good (64) and Google is using our mobile performance to establish our search rankings (a recent development).

Despite have the lazy load enabled for all image file types, I get the Defer offscreen images recommendation to save 4.8 secs. Is there some additional setting to apply the lazy load to mobile display?

    Hello @billferris

Could you please create a new topic about it so we follow the wp.org forum regulations? ??

    Thank you,
