• Okay, I have been searching all over for the past two days and cannot find any information on what I am trying to do. Basically, I want a sidebar widget (or something) that displays only the recent posts with their excerpts. Like this:

    07.10.2009 <–date of post

    Some text here that
is an excerpt from my most
    recent posts…

The closest thing I found was this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/post-and-page-excerpt-widgets/

which is good, but it has to be entered manually. Surely, there is a plugin or widget or code out there that can accomplish this? I am using WP as a business site, and I will use the blog posts as my recent news items.

  • Have you tried the native Recent Posts widget in Admin/Appearance/Widgets?

I had a similar need, and I think esmi’s suggestion is the answer, at least if just displaying the post title & excerpt are sufficient. If shelzmike really needs the post date, a solution might be to start the post title with the date. Although this will be redundant of the date field, which is probably being displayed separately in the post.

This almost meets my need, but rather than show Recent Posts, I’d like to be able to manually select the posts and call them Feature Posts. Does anyone know a way to do this? Might need to be hard coded, which I don’t mind doing. I’m using the Thesis theme. I posted in their forum but as yet no replies.
