• First, thanks to forum members for answering many questions during my code struggles (all new to me), and for recommending firefox’s firebug and web developer, without which I would have been doomed. While my site https://savvysavingbytes.com/ looks mainly ok in firefox and safari, the right sidebar float disappears off the page & drops below the main content float in IE 5 (the last updated mac version). So far, I have narrowed the columns, deleted superfluous (I hope) containers, tried hiding overflows, made a negative sidebar margin, etc. etc. and nothing has brought that sidebar up. The original theme (chosen for its overall size and column widths) also drops its sidebar below the main content in IE, so no help there. Don’t know if it’s related, but my altered theme retains an overhanging sidebar div (originally containing art) that I also couldn’t correct. Would greatly appreciate any insight into this problem.

I wouldn’t worry about Mac IE 5. It is a very dead browser with a minuscule number of users. Use a newer PC version of IE to test your site. Try a public library or friend’s computer if you don’t have it at home. IE 5 Mac and the various versions of IE for PC each have their own quirks and are not comparable.

I was hoping this was the case. WordPress itself, in fact, is unreadable in Mac IE5, as are other sites I have tested. If anyone has IE6, I would love to know if the sidebar drops there too.

    Thanks

I can’t help you there as I also use a Mac.

I checked it i’m running a pc try to stay away from IE if at all possible but keep it around just incase. I don’t see anything out of place it looks just like it does in Firefox when i checked it in my version of IE

Thanks. That’s great to hear. Now I can put the design back to where I had it before trying to acommodate IE. And not to worry about me messing with IE. I can’t stand looking at that thing on my screen.
