I am building a website and need to keep it in maintenance mode for now. But I need to make backups. I am using Backupbuddy. I am getting the error listed below.
Please note: I am 100% certain the error is caused only by the maintenance mode setting. I created a subdomain and ran tests. Somehow, I need to let Backupbuddy through the maintenance mode.

“HTTP Loopback Connections are not enabled on this server or are not functioning properly. You may encounter stalled, significantly delayed backups, or other difficulties. See details in the box below. This may be caused by a conflicting plugin such as a caching plugin.”

If you like, I can send you the full diagnostic report from Backupbuddy privately. It contains my site data so I can’t post it here.

I hope the info helps and look forward to your response. Thanks!

    Hi @theavlady,

Regarding the backup buddy plugin – when you do the backup are you doing it from your wordpress admin panel whilst logged in?
(I don’t use backup buddy so not familiar with the workings of it)

What about momentarily switching maintenance mode off, and doing a backup and then turning maintenance back on?

Hi. Yes I am logged in as admin and running backup via the backend. I considered switching off maintenance mode as you mentioned but really not keen on doing that. Especially because this will be an issue in the future with all my client’s websites. Was hoping for a secure, permanent fix. I will try a different maintenance mode plugin to see if that will work. Thanks.
